Authorities identify woman found dead in jail cell

The Berks County coroner is seeking help in notifying the 26-year-old's family

LEESPORT, Pa. - Authorities have released the name of the woman found dead Thursday morning inside her cell at Berks County Jail.

The Berks County Coroner's Office said 26-year-old Taimara Brooke was in the jail for just over three months before she was found about 9 a.m. Thursday. She was pronounced dead at 9:18 a.m.

An autopsy has been completed, but it did not determine any obvious cause of death. The cause is pending further tests.

Pennsylvania State Police said Thursday that her death does not appear suspicious.

Authorities said they have notified her mother. Two other family members, who are currently in jail, have been notified of her death.

Authorities said Taimara Brooke had been living in a group home in Lower Heidelberg Township prior to her arrest.

Lower Heidelberg Township police arrested Brooke March 17, charging her with several counts of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment. Her case had been scheduled on Monday's trial list, but was cancelled.

Her next scheduled court date had been a status conference set for July 26.
