Babysitter charged in sexual assault of 2 young children

Edxon O. Castro-Escalera freed on $50K bail

READING, Pa. - Criminal charges have been filed in the alleged case of two children being forced to perform sexual acts on their babysitter.

Edxon O. Castro-Escalera sexually assaulted the sister and brother while babysitting them inside their family's home in Reading, according to court documents released Friday.

At the time, authorities said the girl was around the age of 7 or 8, and her younger brother was about 5 or 6 years old.

Detectives with the Berks County district attorney's office disclosed in the court paperwork graphic details of the encounters the children described as being forced to have with Castro-Escalera.

The 23-year-old Reading man was arraigned on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age, and indecent exposure. He is free on $50,000 bail.
