BARTA to offer 25-cent bus rides, $10 passes in October

READING, Pa. - A quarter will get you where you need to go on a BARTA bus next month.

Both BARTA in Berks County and the Red Rose Transit Authority (RRTA) in Lancaster County are offering 25-cent rides for the entire month of October.

"It's been almost 10 years since RRTA held a 25-cent ride promotion," said David Kilmer, executive director of the South Central Transit Authority (SCTA). "In 2008, the promotion was a big success. RRTA saw an increase of nearly 37 percent in ridership during the month. We want to bring that back for both systems to give them a boost."

Officials said riders can also buy a 31-day pass for just $10. Those passes will go on sale next Friday, September 29, and will be valid for the entire month of October.
