Bear Creek Mountain Resort: 'Conditions could not be better'

22 slopes open for skiers

LONGSWAMP TWP., Pa. - While not everyone may have welcomed the late-winter snowstorm on Wednesday, the folks at Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Berks County couldn't be happier.

"Winter is back," the resort said in a post on its Facebook page Thursday morning. "We received almost 8" of fresh snow yesterday on top of the snowmaking efforts earlier in the week. Conditions could not be better. Fresh snow and plenty of sun today."

The resort in Longswamp Township said it has 22 slopes open for skiers.

Just a few weeks ago, 80-degree temperatures forced Bear Creek to close the slopes for a few days, calling the record-breaking warm spell a "minor setback."

If history repeats itself this season, skiers will still have a few more weeks to hit the slopes. Last year's season at Bear Creek came to an end on March 26.
