Bears fall to Northampton, 2-1 in PA State American Legion Tournament

Bears season comes to an end

At Bear Stadium, Boyertown was facing elimination Saturday afternoon in the Pennsylvania State American Legion tournament. The Bears fell to Hummelstown 4-3 in 15 innings on Tuesday, but came back to eliminate Albion, 7-0 Wednesday, eliminate North Parkland, 11-2 on Thursday, and handed Swoyersville their first loss, 3-1 Friday night.  The Bears faced Northampton for the right to advance to the championship game against Swoyersville.  Northampton also won three straight after dropping their opening contest on Tuesday. Brandon Griesemer would drive in Boyertown's only run and pitch seven and a third innings of shutout ball, giving up five hits and striking out 3, but Northampton plated two in the 7th and go on to eliminate the Bears, 2-1.
