Berks DA, chief detective investigate crime scene in Reading

Tarp-covered car towed from Franklin Street

READING, Pa. - More questions than answers surround an apparent criminal investigation in Reading.

Berks County District Attorney John Adams and Chief Detective Mike Gombar arrived at South Eighth and Franklin streets shortly before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and quickly walked inside a building on the southeast corner of that intersection. That building is blocked off by crime scene tape.

Upon walking back outside several minutes later, both Adams and Gombar took a close look at a tarp-covered car parked on Franklin Street, in front of the building. The car was later towed from the scene.

Their presence seems to indicate the seriousness of the case, however, both Adams and his investigators have declined to say anything about why they're there.

What we do know from neighbors is that the district attorney's team of forensic investigators were on the scene for much of the day.

We're told that Berks County sheriff's deputies were there to help secure the area.
