Berks Jazz Fest begins with annual lunch at Peanut Bar

READING, Pa. - Jazz fans from around the world have arrived for the 24th annual Berks Jazz Fest.

The 10-day festival started with the "Harold B. Leifer Memorial Concert" at the Peanut Bar in downtown Reading.

"It's been a thrilling event to be a part of. We've been, as I've said, for 24 years now doing this," said Michael Leifer, the Peanut Bar's owner. "Lots of business for the entire Reading area. Greater Reading has more jazz than just about anybody on the East Coast during this 10-day event."

Boney James will perform in Reading Friday night, and former Tonight Show band leader Kevin Eubanks will perform at Kutztown University.
