Berks man accused of attempting to spy on 2 other co-workers at DeSales

John Bednarik fired after allegedly videotaping co-worker pumping breast milk

Berks man accused of attempting to spy on 2 other co-workers

UPPER SAUCON TWP., Pa. - A Berks County man, already accused of videotaping a co-worker as she pumped breast milk in her office, was charged Tuesday with two counts of attempted invasion of privacy.

One of the new charges against John Bednarik, police said, stems from him placing a camera in the women's locker room of the gym at DeSales University in Upper Saucon Twp., Lehigh Co., and recording video as a woman changed clothes.

The charge of attempt, officials said, is because the camera was angled in a way it did not record video of the woman's body.

Another charge of attempted invasion of privacy stems from an alleged incident in February 2012 in which another woman was changing at a locker in the gym, looked up at a second-story window and saw a man looking at her, according to police.

The woman reported the incident to campus security and police, who later questioned Bednarik.

Bednarik, 33, of Blandon, who was employed as director of campus environment at the university, was fired as a result of the first incident involving the co-worker who was pumping breast milk, officials said.
