Berks man recalls meltdown at Three Mile Island

Friday was the 35th anniversary of the partial meltdown at Three Mile Island.

On March 28, 1979, the nation's worst nuclear accident unfolded just outside of Harrisburg.

Pat Shannon, of Berks County, wasn't working the night of the disaster, but he did work at the power plant.

He said he doesn't think about the meltdown all the time, only around the anniversary, or when he's asked.

"When I hear the date it does come back to me, but its not like I have any bad thoughts about it or anything. I worked in the plant. It was my job and when this accident went down I made sure we helped the public," Shannon said.

The power plant was never restarted.
