Team still alive after opening day; Lehigh Valley eliminated

Berks/LL splits games of Carpenter Cup

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - On day 1 of the 10th annual Carpenter Cup at FDR Park in Philadelphia, the Berks/L-L team tallied a win over Lehigh Valley before falling to Jersey Shore later in the day. Berks/L-L will play in an elimination game Wednesday morning. Lehigh Valley has been eliminated.

Daniel Boone ace Bekah Slattery was dominant in four inning of works for Berks/L-L. She struck out 11 over 4 innings to keep Lehigh Valley at bay in the opening game.

Oley Valley product Brooke Yerger tripled and scored one of the runs for Berks/L-L. Their pitching took care of the rest in the 2-0 victory.

In the second game though, Jersey Shore topped Berks/L-L, 6-2. That means that Berks/L-L will play in an elimination game Wednesday morning.

Lehigh Valley lost to Delaware South, 6-1, in their elimination game Monday afternoon.
