Boyertown, Conrad Weiser knock off division leaders

Bears, Scouts topple division leaders

BERKS COUNTY - The Boyertown and Conrad Weiser girls soccer teams defeated the division leaders within their respective leagues on Wednesday night.

In Boyertown, the Bears (9-0-2, 11-0-2) got a goal from Olivia Frazier to top the division-leading Spring-Ford Rams (9-1-1), 1-0, on Wednesday.

Emily Diehl got credit for the assist on an outstanding cross.

It was Spring-Ford's first league loss of the season as the Bears vaulted into first place in the Liberty Division of the PAC-10. The two tied in their first meeting of the season.

Boyertown will play a non-league game Thursday night against perennial Berks power Wilson West Lawn.

In Robesonia, Conrad Weiser (6-2, 9-5) tallied a 2-1 victory over first-place Fleetwood (7-1, 10-5) on Wednesday. The win puts the Scouts just one game behind the Tigers in Berks II.

Conrad Weiser's Hannah Racis scored the game's first goal in the opening half on a blast from just outside the box.

The Scouts extended their lead to 2-0 just minutes into the second half when Alyssa Charnoff buried a shot into the back corner from a tough angle.

Fleetwood got back to within one a few minutes later when Carly Mitchell scored off a feed from Kaylyn Oxenreider.

But Weiser kept the Tigers off the board from there, hanging on for the key victory with just a week left in the season.
