Cabela's honors 'hometown heroes'

TILDEN TWP., Pa. - Cabela's is honoring hometown heroes in Berks County this weekend.

Several displays and booths were set up at the store in Tilden Township as a tribute to those who serve the nation and their communities. The store is also offering free activities to all active military personnel and veterans.

Cabela's gave a special welcome to a 99-year-old World War II veteran on Saturday.

Steve Bolcar served as a staff sergeant with the Army Air Corps in Europe. Bolcar said he had several close calls during World War II, including surviving a plane crash.

"Divine providence has a big say in my life and my doing. I would never forget my God," Bolcar said.

The Hometown Heroes event continues through Sunday.
