Calendar says autumn; thermometer in Berks says summer

SPRING TWP., Pa. - All across Berks County on Monday, it felt like July in late-September.

"I come and take a walk here if it's nice, but today its really really warm," said one jogger at Gring's Mill in Spring Township. "It's my birthday tomorrow, so I'll have nice heat on my birthday for a change."

From one birthday to another, only this one was on the water at Blue Marsh Lake.

"Gorgeous out here," said Nancy Weiner of Whitehall Township, Lehigh County. "I would stay all day if I could."

Weiner and family set sail on a boat outing for her birthday. It's a trip they don't usually make this late in the year. A busy summer meant only two boat outings for them before this trip. Now, they're getting a bonus ride before all the leaves change, and before Mother Nature starts to change her mind.

"Here's this season and this season," said Weiner. "It's like together."
