Captured: Reading man jailed in attempt to kill girlfriend

Other man repeatedly punched, kicked, police say

READING, Pa. - The search is over for a Reading man accused of trying to kill his girlfriend.

Jonathan Brown was arrested and arraigned Monday night, hours after a story about the police search for him was posted on and aired on 69 News.

Brown, 48, stabbed his girlfriend multiple times and physically assaulted another man inside an apartment in the 1100 block of Buttonwood Street late Saturday night, telling them, "I'm going to kill both of you," police said.

The girlfriend was taken to the hospital for treatment of three small stab wounds to the back of her head and a small wound to the right side of her waist, police said.

The other man was punched in the face and kicked in the head, causing "massive swelling" to his forehead, police said.

Brown has been charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, and possessing an instrument of a crime. He was committed to the Berks County Jail on $1 million bail.
