Car flips after colliding with train in Berks County

HEIDELBERG TWP., Pa. - One man was taken to the hospital after his car overturned during a collision with a train in Berks County.

It happened shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday at a railroad crossing near West Penn Avenue and Janice Lane in Heidelberg Township.

The man was traveling alone in the car, police said. He was taken to the hospital for unspecified injuries.

Crews at the scene told 69 News the driver thought it was clear to cross after seeing a row of train cars pass by, but when he went to cross, he was hit by a train coming in the other direction.
