Casey hoping to deliver for postal service

Senator Bob Casey is hoping to deliver for the struggling US Postal Service.

The postal service is looking to cut costs by closing some 250 processing centers including the Gus Yatron facility in Reading.

The Senate is debating whether to stabilize the postal service with an $11 billion cash infusion.

Casey says he's backing an additional provision that would preserve the one-to-three day mail delivery rate which he says could help to keep processing centers open, at least temporarily.

"What I'm trying to do with the amendment is to put in place a four year moratorium on changing delivery standards. That by implication involves these facilities," said Casey.

Casey says the Senate could vote on the issue Thursday.
