WYOMISSING, Pa. - Toy shopping was on the to-do list for many this Black Friday, but not all purchases were stowed away for the holidays.
From 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Berks County folks donated boxes and boxes worth of toys for both the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots - part of an event called "Stuff a Bus."
"We've had a great turnout. People are bringing trash bags full of toys," said Ashley Hoke, an event coordinator with Klein Transportation, which provided the bus used for toy "stuffing" and transporting.
Partnering with Klein for the event was Viva Bistro & Lounge, where the event was held in a parking lot. Several other organizations assisted, too, including Body Zone and the Reading Royals.
"The community has really come together today," said Hoke. "It's great."
In total, close to ten boxes were filled, with toys for all ages.
"We have a nice collection so far," said Berks County Toys for Tots Coordinator Dorothy Basile.
Basile told 69 News the organization is overall doing well so far, and will continue collecting toys across the region until Dec. 17. She said they are always looking for extra gifts for infants and teens.
