Community paying respects to fallen Reading firefighter

WEST READING, Pa. - Family, friends and firefighters are paying their respects to a man who spent his life serving the community.

A viewing for Ron "Moose" Wentzel was held at the Kuhn Funeral Home in West Reading.

Moose was a Reading firefighter for more than two decades before he lost his battle with cancer last weekend.

Another viewing will be held Friday from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m., followed by a funeral and a procession to a cemetery in Spring Township.

Police are warning drivers to expect delays and to avoid the area if possible.

"I expect at least maybe, up to 350 pieces of fire apparatus alone and then there's going to be personal vehicles involved in the procession, so several hundred vehicles to say the least," said Chief Lee Schweyer, Sinking Spring Police Dept.

The procession will stretch from Telford Avenue to the Pleasant View Cemetery on Columbia Avenue.
