Crash slows westbound traffic on Route 422 in Exeter

EXETER TWP., Pa. - An accident put the brakes on traffic along a stretch of the West Shore Bypass in Berks County on Tuesday.

The crash happened shortly before noon Tuesday in the westbound lanes of Route 422 in Exeter Township, between the Mount Penn and Interstate 176 interchanges.

A photo from the scene showed a wrecked SUV against the guardrail. Police have not yet said whether any other vehicles were involved or if anyone was injured.

Westbound traffic was stopped at the scene of the accident; eastbound motorists were still able to get by, however, it was slow-going in that direction until the crash could be cleared.
