Crash involving overturned truck closes Route 222

RICHMOND TWP., Pa. - An accident involving four vehicles, including an overturned truck, closed Route 222, south of Kutztown, in both directions for a few hours Monday afternoon.

The accident happened shortly before 1:45 p.m. Monday in the area of Route 222 and Schuler Road in Richmond Township.

Photos from the scene show a truck on its side with a load of spilled sand and two crumpled cars.

Four people, including a baby, were transported to area hospitals, but police said their injuries were not serious.

Northbound traffic on 222 was detoured at Route 662 and Route 222 South was closed at Schuler Road until crews could clear the wreckage.
