Crews called to 2-alarm fire in Hereford Twp.

HEREFORD TWP., Pa. - Fire crews were out early Friday morning knocking down flames in Hereford Township, Berks County.

One man was arrested in connection with the blaze, but officials say he was quickly released.

Authorities tell 69 News they thought that a tenant was intoxicated so they arrested him, but he was released when they found out he wasn't.

Fire poured from the inside of the home as firefighters fought to keep it from spreading Friday morning.

Two people were home at the time, the home owner and and a tenant, but authorities say they were able to get out uninjured.

The two alarm fire happened around 5:30 a.m. in the 2900 block of Seisholtzville Road.

The state police fire marshal who's investigating the cause of the fire told 69 News that the fire likely started towards the further end of the house, but he's still working to pinpoint a source.

The property is a total loss according to authorities, with a possible $75,000 worth of damage.

Investigators are working to determine if the fire was accidentally or intentionally set.
