Crucifixes, Last Supper artwork stolen from Reading church

Church burglarized

READING, Pa. - Reading police are trying to track down whoever is responsible for breaking into a Roman Catholic church and stealing crucifixes, artwork, rosaries and other items.

Crime Alert Berks County and Reading police are looking for the public's help in solving the burglary that occurred sometime between April 14 and 28 at St. Mary's Church in the 200 block of South 12th Street.

Church personnel discovered a burglary had occurred when they found a broken window in a church door along with pry marks on the same door.

Church personnel then found that the suspect or suspects stole: two crucifixes; a large wall-hanging of the Last Supper made of metal; a wooden framed plaque with a silver eagle; a tapestry of the Divine Mercy Jesus; a silver wall clock; and a box containing rosaries and candles.
