Customers Bank invests $2 million in fund for loans to small businesses

$2 million available for potential businesses in Reading

READING, Pa. - More money is now available to help small businesses grow, even if they don't qualify for commercial loans.

Wyomissing-based Customers Bank is investing $2 million in the Community First Fund.

The announcement was made Tuesday at the Journey Fellowship Day Care on Alton Avenue in Reading. The day care was started by someone who turned to the Community First Fund to start a business.

"This level of investment from Customers Bank would allow us again to provide the vital capital that is needed to be able to lend to those small businesses that are not able to apply and/or get approval for a commercial loan," said Jonathan Encarnacion, Community First Fund.

The Community First Fund serves 13 counties in Pennsylvania.
