DA, coroner probe woman's death inside apartment in Hamburg

Body found by complex's maintenance staff

HAMBURG, Pa. - Authorities have a mystery on their hands in northern Berks County.

The district attorney and the coroner have teamed up with Hamburg police to investigate the death of a woman inside a unit at the Wyndcliffe House Apartments on Chestnut Street.

The coroner told 69 News the death investigation is being treated as "suspicious," but it is still too early to determine exactly what happened. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

Detectives haven't said much about the case except that they're waiting for a search warrant before proceeding with their on-scene investigation.

WFMZ's Julia Rose reported that neighbors told her the woman was found dead by the complex's maintenance staff Tuesday afternoon after a friend reported not having heard from her.
