Daniel Boone takes magic into state quarterfinals

Blazers embracing underdog role

BIRDSBORO, Pa. - The Daniel Boone softball team admits that they didn't expect to be in the state tournament. But now that they're in the PIAA quarterfinals, the Blazers plan to make the most of it.

Daniel Boone will meet Neshaminy on Thursday at 5:30 at Spring-Ford High School.

For the Blazers, it's just the next step in what's been a roller coaster postseason.

Daniel Boone was knocked out in the semifinals of the Berks County tournament, failing to defend their county championship crown from a year ago.

But the Blazers rebounded big time in the District III tournament, reaching the championship game as the 11th-seed.

The team has played with pride and passion over the last few weeks, things that won't go away anytime soon.

Daniel Boone defeated Hazleton, 4-1, on Monday in the first round.
