Diane Taglieber waives hearing in theft of puppy from pet store in Boyertown

BOYERTOWN, Pa. - A woman is heading to trial for allegedly stealing a puppy from a pet store in Boyertown, Berks County, earlier this month.

Diane Taglieber waived her right to a preliminary hearing on retail theft charges. She remains free on bail.

Taglieber, police said, was seen on surveillance video picking the $700 Pug/Jack Russell mix out of its pen inside Zimmers Pets, 51 E. Philadelphia Ave., on May 18 and leaving the store.

The puppy was later found abandoned in a park in Pottstown, Montgomery County and returned to its litter-mates.

Two other women who were with Taglieber and their children inside the store at the time of the alleged theft were not charged.
