BERKS COUNTY, Pa. - Kutztown baseball cruised past Halifax while Schuylkill Valley volleyball knocked off rival Brandywine Heights in five sets as both the Cougars and Panthers advanced in their District III tournaments.

At Kutztown, the third-seeded Cougars knocked off 6th-seeded Halifax 5-1 on Monday evening.

The Cougars will meet second-seeded Camp Hill on Thursday.

At Wilson West Lawn, 5th-seeded Schuylkill Valley defeated 4th-seeded Brandywine Heights in five games to advance to the AA semifinals. These two division rivals had split the regular season series.

Frank Melvin had 15 kills, Mitch Strobel added 13 kills and Andrew Lash racked up 41 assists for the Panthers.

Logan Gehman tallied a match-high 22 kills. Alec Hess recorded 13 kills to go along with 50 assists from Austin Gehman, but it was not enough to lift the Bullets.
