Drug forfeiture money used to catch more criminals

READING, Pa. - A crime tip group that helped police in Berks County make dozens of arrests last year is getting a big boost.

Berks County District Attorney John Adams presented Crime Alert Berks County with a check for $15,000 Thursday morning.

The money was seized during drug investigations and will help Crime Alert continue to pay anonymous tipsters who help police solve cases.

"Every year, the percentage of crimes that we help solve increases. It's better every year, and every year we're averaging more arrests," said Conrad Vanino, board member, Crime Alert.

Last year, Crime Alert paid tipsters more than $46,000.
