FAA investigating strange incident involving laser, military aircraft in Berks County

NORTH HEIDELBERG TWP., Pa. - The FAA is investigating a strange incident involving a laser and a military aircraft in North Heidelberg Township, Berks County.

State Police said an unknown person pointed a laser at a military aircraft around 9:20 p.m. Friday, creating a hazardous situation for the pilots.

Police said FAA investigators were able to respond to the exact location of where the laser was pointed from, but there was no one present when they arrived.

Authorities are urging anyone with information on this federal crime to call State Police in Reading.

Police said this crime carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
