Families finalize adoptions of newborn babies

READING, Pa. - Tuesday was an emotional day at the Berks County Courthouse in Reading.

There were tears and smiles as three families finalized their adoptions with Judge Arthur Grim.

The families had been matched with newborn babies through a local agency. They said it was a long and, at times, difficult process, but Tuesday made it all worth it.

"It's wonderful," said Heather Lutz, an adoptive mother. "We are forever indebted to Baby Step and Judge Grim. It's been a long process for us, but it ended in the most perfect way."

The ceremony was also a little bittersweet, as it marked the end of Grim's career. The longtime judge is retiring after 30 years on the bench.
