Fire damages Berks County townhouses, leaving one family displaced

Two alarm fire in Bally

Bally, Pa. - Flames tore through part of a townhouse development in Berks County Friday night, leaving one family displaced.

The two-alarm fire erupted around 11:20 p.m. Friday in the unit block of South Second Street in Bally Borough.

Firefighters managed to contain the fire in less than an hour. All of the residents managed to get out safely.

One of the townhomes was significantly damaged in the blaze. Another townhome sustained water and fire damage; the resident of that home was allowed to return Saturday.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Police believe the fire started on the outside of the building near an air conditioning unit.
