Fire marshal issues report on 3-alarm warehouse fire in Reading

READING, Pa. - The Reading fire marshal released a new report on a three-alarm fire that destroyed a former warehouse in April.

The report identifies problems firefighters had in fighting that fire in the former Letisse Handbags factory at 11th and Chestnut streets.

The fire marshal said the department wasn't notified about the fire until as long as 10 to 15 minutes after it started.

The report also says the building's sprinkler system wasn't working and its structural stability was in question before the day of the fire.

The fire marshal said because of a number of issues that made the building unsafe for investigators to access, the cause of the fire will remain undetermined.
