Parrot rescued

MOUNT PENN, Pa. - Firefighters in Berks County had to rescue a parrot that was in peril.

The parrot was stuck in a rain spout of a home in the area of 22nd Street and Fairview Avenue in Mount Penn Friday night.

Firefighters managed to free the parrot, which is a peach-faced lovebird.

The bird is doing okay, and continues to recover at the Animal Rescue League.

Officials are trying to track down the bird's owner.

Judson Meinhart of the Animal Rescue League said, "We're do assume there's a owner out there that we are holding the bird for. We hope we can generate some interest and the owner can come forward."

Anyone with information on the bird's owner is asked to contact the Animal Rescue League.
