Former Muhlenberg teacher pleads guilty in theft case

John DelCollo sentenced to house arrest, probation

READING, Pa. - A former Muhlenberg School District teacher will have to pay restitution in a nearly $500,000 theft case.

John DelCollo pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of theft plus conspiracy. He was sentenced to seven years of probation, with the first six months to be under electronic monitoring.

DelCollo was also ordered to pay $463,480 along with his co-defendant, Richard Yuengel.

DelCollo was hired to clear scrap metal out of the former Greater Reading Expo Center, now known as the Stone Pointe Business Center, in Muhlenberg Township. He was to sell it at a scrap yard and turn the money over to the Suburban Management Company.

Instead, authorities said DelCollo kept 95 percent of the profits and split it between himself and Yuengel and Yuengel's wife, Linda, who sold some of the stolen items on eBay.

Richard Yuengel was sentenced to five years of probation after pleading guilty to theft and conspiracy in November; Linda Yuengel was accepted into a program for first-time offenders.
