Former Reading mayor hospitalized after heart attack

READING, Pa. - Former Reading Mayor Tom McMahon is hospitalized in Costa Rica after suffering a heart attack while visiting the Central American country.

McMahon, a retired engineer, served two terms as Reading's mayor, leaving office in Jan. 2012.

He was admitted to St. Joseph Medical Center after delivering his State of the City address to City Council in Feb. 2010. He underwent undisclosed tests and remained out of the office for a few days.

McMahon currently serves as chairman of the Pagoda Foundation, which focuses on the continued maintenance and operation of the Pagoda through fundraising activities.
