Former Reading superintendent needs new termination hearing

New hearing for former superintendent

READING, Pa. - A former superintendent of the Reading School District needs a new termination hearing, a judge has ruled.

Carlinda Purcell was terminated in error after the school board held a hearing in November without her, said Judge Tim Rowley.

Purcell failed to attend more than one hearing, but the judge ruled it was because of medical issues.

Officials said it won't impact the upcoming vote on naming Khalid Mumin the district's new superintendent.
