Francis Acosta wins nomination for Reading City Council president

Donna Reed, Chris Daubert win primary contests for district seats

READING, Pa. - Reading City Council President Francis Acosta will remain on the ballot for the general election in November.

Acosta held off a challenge from Robert Melendez in the Democratic primary. He'll face Republican Vincent Rosato in the general election in November.

Acosta, a manager at Fulton Bank, has served as council president since January 2012, when Vaughn Spencer stepped down to become mayor.

Councilwoman Donna Reed will also appear on the November ballot in her bid for re-election in the city's 5th District.

First District Councilman Randy Corcoran lost his bid for the Democratic nomination, coming in last in a three-way race. Chris Daubert will appear on the November ballot.
