Friends remember victim of Berks cold case

MOHNTON, Pa. - Fixing this bench is a labor of love for these nine women who have remained friends since elementary school.

"This group of women has come from all over the country to get together today to refurbish this bench and remember our friend" says Sue Heffler Perfetto.

Her thoughts are echoed by her friend Karen Wood: "It means a lot to us still. Our group doesn't feel complete without her."

Their friend, Lisa Griffin Carrabello was found murdered in her Mohnton home in 2001.

"When she was murdered there was a Bench dedicated to her in Mohnton Memorial Park. Which needs some sprucing up" says Perfetto.

Karen Wood thought it would be a great idea for her and her friends to pay tribute to Carrabello. "We want to fix up the bench. And put some flowers out here" says Wood.

Fastening new boards to the bench, shoveling dirt, and planting flowers are all part of the healing process for these life long friends. But they are still longing for an answer to one question.

"It would do us a lot of good to figure out who did this" says Donna Fry Venning, another member of this tight-knit group of women.

The person who murdered Lisa Griffin Carrabello was never caught and brought to justice.

"Someone has some information about her murder and it's really important that somebody says something and we can help solve this after all this time" says Wood.

A plea made by these longtime friends for information that would help them cope with the loss of their best friend.
