Giant Food Stores donates more than 500 hams, $10,000 to Greater Berks Food Bank

SHILLINGTON, Pa. - Hundreds of local families in need will be able to place a ham on their dinner table this Easter.

Employees of the Giant Food Store on Lancaster Avenue in Shillington took time from their normal jobs Monday morning to help load a Greater Berks Food Bank truck with hundreds of hams.

Giant donated more than 500 hams and a check for $10,000 to the food bank as part of the company's "Bag Hunger with Hams" program.

The Greater Berks Food Bank helps feed the hungry in Berks, Schuylkill and western Montgomery counties.

The organization is currently in the process of relocating from Muhlenberg Township to a larger facility in Spring Township.
