Gilmore | Henne Fund to rebuild playground in Fleetwood

FLEETWOOD, Pa. - Children in Fleetwood are about to get an all-new playground, thanks to a pair of NFL football players from Berks County.

The Gilmore | Henne Community Fund will lead an effort to rebuild the Locust Street Playground in the borough on June 22, officials announced Tuesday.

The event will take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. with music, food, games and a bounce house.

The fund, founded in 2010 by NFL players John Gilmore and Chad Henne, has already revitalized five parks in Berks County. Fleetwood's will be the sixth.

In addition to the playground revitalization projects, the fund awards two annual college scholarships to Berks County students who engage in scholastic sports and maintain a respectable grade point average.
