PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Pitcher Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez has been activated off the disabled list and has been assigned to the Reading Fightin Phils. Outfielder Aaron Altherr has been recalled by the Phillies, who placed Domonic Brown on the paternity leave list.
Ranked as the no.4 prospect in the Phillies minor league system by Baseball America, Gonzalez was signed to a three-year contract by the Phillies on August 30, 2013. The right-hander pitcher posted an 0-2 record with a 4.70 ERA in eight games, including three starts, with Clearwater (A+) this season. Gonzalez has only allowed one run through six innings over his five relief appearances since returning to action in mid-June.
Altherr, who played a series with the Phillies from 6/16 to 6/19, was hitting .241 with 15 doubles and six home runs in 63 games prior to his latest call-up to the majors. In June, the 23-year old hit .326 (30-for-92) with three doubles, two home runs, and 11 RBIs.
