Gonzalez promoted to AAA; Lee lands back on D.L.

Gonzalez one step away from bigs; Lee's season likely over

Gonzalez to AAA; Lee to disabled list

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Phillies have promoted Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez from AA-Reading to AAA-Lehigh Valley. The big club will need all the pitching help it can get with Cliff Lee's season likely done.

Gonzalez has been sharp in the Fightin Phils bullpen. He tallied 5 saves, 24 strikeouts and posted an ERA of 3.14 in 14.1 innings of work.

Gonzalez, who signed a 3-year, $12 million contract with the Phillies last season, looks healthy and is on his way to the show after battling some shoulder issues early this season.

The news is not so good for Cliff Lee.

The southpaw left Thursday night's game at Washington in the third inning after injuring his left elbow again.

Lee has been placed on the disabled list and will have an MRI next week. It is likely that the lefty will miss the rest of the season.
