Football legend Lenny Moore honored in Reading

READING, Pa. - Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Reading High standout Lenny Moore was honored on Thursday, being named a Hometown Hall of Famer.

The seven-time pro bowler was awarded the honor by the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Allstate at a ceremony at Reading High.

Moore attended Penn State and was a first-round pick of the Baltimore Colts in 1956. Combined with Johnny Unitas, the duo lifted the Colts to prosperity in the 1950s.

He earned Rookie of the Year honors in 1956 and went on to amass nearly 12,500 net yards. He scored 113 touchdowns and was named all-NFL five times.

Moore was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1975.
