Hamburg says "no" to Medical Charter School

HAMBURG, Pa. - The Hamburg Area School Board has rejected a plan that would have brought a medical charter school to the borough.

Monday the board unanimously voted against the proposal that would have allowed the Medical Academy Charter School to move into the old Hamburg Elementary School.

The board did not explain why it turned down the plan.

The charter school would have offered a pre-med curriculum for students planning to go to college.

The elementary school has been closed since 2008.
