Hamburg wrestlers advance to state quarters with upset of Burrell

Hamburg stuns Burrell to advance to state quarterfinals

HERSHEY - The Hamburg wrestling team knocked off Burrell on Thursday, 35-33, in the Giant Center to earn a spot in the AA state quarterfinals. Burrell, the District 7 champion, was one of the favored teams in the bracket.

The Hawks got out to a fast start. Sean Stanish, Chris Kummerer and Nick Oswald all tallied early wins for Hamburg. The team finished strong down the stretch as well, with Logan Lackey and Romeo Eaddy recording decisive wins late.

The magic continues for the Hawks Friday when they meet Brookville in the AA state quarterfinals. Hamburg has already made appearances in the Berks County and District 3 finals.
