Head-on crash on Route 183 sends 4 people to hospital

BERN TWP., Pa. - Four people were taken to a hospital following a head-on crash near the Reading Regional Airport.

The crash was reported around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on Route 183, in the area of Oak Grove Road, in Bern Township.

Police on the scene told 69 News that a southbound car crossed the center line and struck the on-coming car.

Three people in the southbound car and one person in the northbound car were taken to Reading Hospital. All but the backseat passenger in the striking vehicle suffered minor injuries, police said.

Route 183 between South Tulpehocken and Aviation roads was closed for about 45 minutes while crews worked to remove the wreckage.
