Heart attack survivor continues gesture of thanks

WEST READING, Pa. - It's a sweet gesture at Reading Hospital in West Reading.

Elaine Reinert took cake to the hospital staff Tuesday morning. She's been taking a cake to the hospital on July 15 for about 25 years.

Reinert had a heart attack on the same date 25 years ago, and she was taken to Reading Hospital, where staff members saved her.

She takes a cake every year to say thanks for all this extra time

"I've been able to travel," said Reinert. "I have a granddaughter, which I've done lots of things with her, and my husband and I celebrated 50 years of marriage, so I just feel lucky.

Reinert said she'll keep taking a cake to the hospital on the same day as long as she's able.
