Independence Day celebrated with parade in Wyomissing

WYOMISSING, Pa. - The heat didn't keep thousands of folks from lining the streets of Wyomissing on Wednesday.

The borough's annual Independence Day parade always draws a large crowd.

Police cars, fire trucks, motorcycles and classic cars all turned heads. Various community groups and the Reading Phillies mascot team also took part.

Folks we spoke with said they look forward to the parade every year.

"I think it's unique," said Jerry Malick.

"I wouldn't miss this parade for anything. I just, I love it," said Sydney Malick. "It's the whole community getting together."

After the parade, folks gathered near the Stone House for "A Star Spangled Salute." Events included concerts, games, pony rides, a rubber duck race, Fire Cracker Fun Run and pie-eating contests.
