Jesse Biddle moved to temporary inactive list

Lefty given time off following slump

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Jesse Biddle has been moved to the temporary inactive list following a string of tough starts for the first round pick. There has been no definite return date slated for the lefty.

Biddle (3-9, 5.03 ERA) has lost his last five starts and hasn't won a game since May 4th.

The Phillies say it is a "mental break" meant to help Biddle get back on track. The southpaw says he has been unhappy on the mound and that nothing feels right. He hasn't been able to figure it out.

Other moves Thursday included:

RHP Ryan Demmin promoted from Clearwater to Reading.

INF Rusty Ryal assigned to Reading from Lehigh Valley.

OF Jiwan James released by Philadelphia.
