Cops on robbery suspect: 'We need to get him off the street'

WEST READING, Pa. - A man accused of robbing an adult store in downtown Reading is also behind a violent holdup in West Reading, police said.

Police said they believe John Gentry, of Shillington, held a razor blade to a cashier's throat at the Lukoil gas station on Penn Avenue on Wednesday evening.

Gentry also robbed the Reading Adult Outlet on Penn Street in Reading on July 1, said police, who noted that he seems to be getting more violent.

"He did his second robbery at the Lukoil, and in that robbery he had a blade. So yes, it's a concern," said Sgt. John Solecki, Reading Police Dept. "We need to take him off the street."

If you know of Gentry's whereabouts, you can call Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913. A cash reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest.
